Centreville Public Schools

The Bulldogs closed out the regular season as Co-Conference Champions of the SW10 with a four-set win over Decatur on Thursday night! Centreville opened with two strong sets. The defense, led by Linda Ultz, gave the offense plenty of good opportunities, and the Bulldogs stayed efficient at the service line and hit very well. In the third, the team let off the gas — got a little comfortable, slowed down a step — and though they battled back, Decatur took it. Heading into the fourth, the challenge to the girls was to push not just their bodies but their minds, and compete for every single point. In an intense match it’s easy to get overwhelmed, and it was great to see this group stick it out and finish the close ones down the stretch. Proud of what this team did. They watched a lot of film, learned what needed to happen, and went out and did it. Decatur is a talented group, and keeping them offset and out of system was the job — the Bulldogs did it well.
