The boys cross country team won the Big Hill Invitational in Three Rivers on Tuesday night and brought home a first-place trophy. Will Hulin won the race outright. Centreville scored 39 points to Three Rivers' 58 and Paw Paw's 65. Hulin crossed first in 16:46.8, with Max Reed fourth and Nick Overweg fifth — three Bulldogs inside the top five. The girls placed fifth as a team, five points out of fourth. Big Hill awards medals by grade level, and fifteen Bulldogs came home with one. Freshmen — Nick Overweg 1st, Tanner Bingaman 6th, Corban Brueck 7th. Emily Falkenstein 3rd in the girls' race. Sophomores — Max Reed 2nd, Will Swanwick 3rd, Drew Swanwick 7th, Gavin Brueck 9th. Ella Wolff 7th in the girls' race. Juniors — Will Hulin 1st, Landon Weis 9th. Addison Johnson 3rd, Norah Lammon 7th, and Avaline Blum 9th in the girls' race. Seniors — Bryce Hekter 10th. Personal bests went to Emily Falkenstein, Cooper Anderson, and Adalyn Logan. That is worth sitting with for a second, because on a course like this one most runners give time back rather than take it. It is called Big Hill for a reason. Tuesday night the Bulldogs ran like it wasn't there.
